We’re proud to finally announce a string of gigs at “The Suffolk Arms“ running in tandem with the Cheltenham Jazz Festival 2024! For those of you who are unaware, we host a session on the first Friday of every month at the Suffolk arms and alongside bassist Nick Kacal, we invite special guests to feature.
On the 3rd, 4th and 5th of May 2024 (with the addition of Patrick Barrett-Donlon on Drums) we will be playing shows with the acclaimed trumpeter, Gary Alesbrook, saxophonist/clarinetist, Pete Long, and guitarist Nigel Price.
What’s more, is that entry is entirely FREE...
The residency has been going from strength to strength since starting up in July 23’, seating is limited and we are likely to fill up quickly. All you have to do is book a table to secure your place at one of our gigs this coming May.
Having "garnered comparisons with the greats" (Jazzwise), Eddie Gripper is rapidly making a name for himself in the UK Jazz Scene. Born and raised in Burford, he moved to Cardiff to study Jazz Piano at the University - graduating in 2021. He has worked with many great jazz artists, such as Alex Merritt, Yuri Golubev, Huw Warren and Iain Ballamy and continues active work as a performer within Wales and the South-West of England. His debut album, 'Home', released on the London label 'Ubuntu', has received highly favourable press coverage and he will be touring nationally with his band in 2024.
Nick Kacal has been active on the London music scene since 1998, playing predominantly jazz and acoustic folk, occasionally touring to places such as Cape Verde, France and Spain. He formed his own group, Guerillasound, releasing a CD in 2008 and touring successfully in Japan. In the last few years, his science and engineering background in Electroacoustics has led to him increased work as a recordist, mix engineer and producer, with a base in his own small mix and tracking studio - Guerilla Sound Recordings - http://www.guerillasound.co.uk
